Iraq Executions
EDM number 68 in 1997-98, proposed by Ann Clwyd on 04/06/1997.
That this House notes with horror the reports of mass executions at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad between February and March 1997, in batches of up to 80 people; believes they constitute a grave violation of the norms of civilised conduct; emphasises the utter disregard for human rights of the ruling Baath regime; and calls upon the Government of the United Kingdom to act within the United Nations, to ensure the implementation of Resolution 688 and the rapid dispatch of human rights monitors to Iraq.
This motion has been signed by a total of 52 MPs.
