Children And The Criminal Justice System

That this House welcomes the review initiated by the Home Secretary to improve the way in which children are dealt with by the criminal justice system; further welcomes the calls by the Association of Chief Police Officers who have suggested a wide range of initiatives to assist a child having to deal with the trauma and distress of legal proceedings; and congratulates the Sunderland Echo in its campaigning for changes to the law.
