Inland Revenue And Public Transport
EDM number 164 in 1998-99, proposed by Tom Brake on 12/01/1999.
That this House welcomes the Government's commitment to taxing non-residential car parking spaces; regrets that any public transport subsidy paid for by an individual's employer is seen as a 'taxable benefit in kind'; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to review this policy urgently to encourage the use of public transport.
