That this House welcomes the first Laurie Lee Memorial Lecture given by the distinguished biographer Valerie Grove at the Cheltenham Festival of Literature; congratulates Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education for its initiative in inaugurating this annual event commemorating the work of Gloucestershire's best-loved writer; and anticipates with relish the 2000 Lecture to be given by the Poet Laureate.
