Status Of Nursery Nurses
EDM number 1095 in 1999-00, proposed by David Lepper on 30/10/2000.
That this House recognises that nursery nurses play a vital role in managing and providing childcare and early years' education in a wide variety of settings; believes that the suggested introduction of classroom assistant as a job title should be rejected by government, local government and private employers as inappropriate for these trained, qualified and professional staff; and urges the Government to work with local government and the private sector to establish professional career and pay structures for nursery nurses which properly reward their training, qualifications and responsibilities.
