Citizen Card

EDM number 471 in 1999-00, proposed by Martin Linton on 03/03/2000.

That this House congratulates CitizenCard on reaching its first anniversary as the UK's first national proof-of-identity card; welcomes the fact that it has issued over 30,000 cards; applauds its backers for funding the CitizenCard in the absence of a government scheme, including the Association of Convenience Stores, the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, Ladbrokes, Somerfield, the Tobacco Manufacturers' Association, Camelot and the British Amusement and Catering Trades Association; acknowledges the Government's intention to issue an education-focused youth card later this year; and calls upon the Government to ensure that the holder's photo and date of birth are displayed on the youth card.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
