Aid To Ethiopia

EDM number 654 in 1999-00, proposed by Laurence Robertson on 18/04/2000.

That this House, whilst regretting the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, is concerned by reports of potential famine in Ethiopia, which will result in the deaths of a great many people, including children; regrets the slow response of the international community to the crisis; calls upon Her Majesty's Government greatly to increase the food aid it is providing to the people of Ethiopia; and urges the Secretary of State for International Development to do her utmost to persuade the European Union to do likewise.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
