School Crossing Wardens

EDM number 228 in 2000-01, proposed by Paul Truswell on 18/01/2001.

That this House pays tribute to the invaluable contribution made to communities throughout the land by school crossing wardens; acknowledges that their irreplaceable road safety role is often performed in adverse conditions; views with concern the increasing difficulties that schools and local education authorities are experiencing in filling vacancies for wardens; and calls on the Government and local government bodies to review the role and remuneration of this important position with a view to rewarding existing wardens and attracting others in the future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 67 MPs.
