Cctv And The Killing Of Scott Davies

EDM number 1005 in 2001-02, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 13/03/2002.

That this House expresses its sympathy for the family of Scott Davies, who was murdered by Kevin Alvarado in Reading; notes the integral part CCTV played in apprehending and convicting the perpetrator, this being the first time CCTV has been used to catch and convict a murderer in Britain; congratulates Reading East mini-cab driver Murray Lewis, who stopped his cab and pleaded with Mr Alvarado and his friends to halt this murderous attack, then drove the blood-soaked Mr Davies to Royal Berkshire Hospital in an effort to save his life; further congratulates The Oracle security staff in Reading for their help in apprehending the killer; and supports the introduction of CCTV to tackle crime in Woodley Centre in Reading East and the extended use of CCTV cameras throughout the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
