Aggregates Levy

EDM number 1029 in 2001-02, proposed by Alex Salmond on 19/03/2002.

That this House expresses concern over the planned introduction of the aggregates levy from 1st April, despite the lack of final guidelines from the Treasury on how this tax is to be implemented and administered; notes that the quarry and construction industries need a reasonable period of time to adjust to such a significant measure; and therefore calls on the Government to delay the introduction of the tax pending publication of a full environmental and economic assessment of its impact.

This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
