Just Do Something

EDM number 1222 in 2001-02, proposed by Chris Bryant on 30/04/2002.

That this House notes that there are more than 36,000 public appointments and over 118,000 charities seeking trustees in the UK; further notes that many people are unaware of opportunities to use their experience and knowledge for the public good; congratulates Common Purpose, NTL and the Financial Times for launching Just Do Something, a new internet initiative to provide information and opportunities for people who want to take the lead in civic life; and calls upon the Government to support Just Do Something in aiming to make public appointments and non-executive roles within the voluntary sector more accessible to the UK public.

This motion has been signed by a total of 64 MPs.
