Coastal Defences

EDM number 364 in 2001-02, proposed by Norman Lamb on 06/11/2001.

That this House notes the severe problems caused by coastal erosion and that current coastal defence funding, based on urgency, urbanisation and cost/benefit analysis, does not help to channel funds where they are most needed; calls on the Government, in reviewing coastal defence funding, to implement the current moves towards recognising social infrastructure issues in rural as well as urban areas and to ensure that funding is sufficient to meet the requirements of all operating authorities; and calls on the Government to retain the present funding arrangements for local authorities through the Revenue Support Grant.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
