Sport In Schools

EDM number 7 in 2001-02, proposed by Bob Russell on 20/06/2001.

That this House notes with concern the increase in the cases of childhood obesity; further notes the decline in sporting participation among young people, with more than 75 per cent. not voluntarily participating; and urges the Government to make weekly physical education part of the core curriculum and to establish a committee to discuss the extent of such activity and to promote sport in school.
