Imprisonment Of Arundhati Roy

EDM number 967 in 2001-02, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 07/03/2002.

That this House objects to the symbolic incarceration and fining of the author Arundhati Roy in upholding 'the glory of the law'; respects the democratic freedom of speech and the right of a citizen to protest; abhors the priority given to such a minor case; and calls on the New Delhi Government to abolish such sentences arising from freedom of speech.

This motion has been signed by a total of 38 MPs.
