Hms Dorsetshire

That this House congratulates the officers and men of HMS Dorsetshire for their bravery and the fund-raising efforts of the local people in Dorset who, in 1942, raised over ú3,057,000 for the building of a new HMS Dorsetshire which was never built; recognises that all three ships played an important role in many battles between 1694 and 1942, and that as a result of her wartime service she was awarded the battle honours, Atlantic 1941 and Bismarck 1941; and, noting these achievements, calls on the Government to give strong consideration to commission one of the next new D Class Type 45 Destroyers HMS Dorsetshire.
