Diplomatic Relations With Mongolia

EDM number 1412 in 2002-03, proposed by Peter L Pike on 13/06/2003.

That this House celebrates 40 years of British-Mongolian full diplomatic relations; notes that for Mongolia the presence of a British Embassy began a new age of international relations and was a cornerstone in marking their status as an independent and sovereign nation, and that for the United Kingdom an Embassy in Mongolia provided a presence in an important country strategically located between Russia and China; further notes that after Britain opened their Embassy other western countries soon followed, and that over the past 40 years the bilateral relationship has evolved and matured between the two countries; looks forward to continued and deepening bonds between the two countries for many years to come; and wishes Mongolia every success in the building of their economic base and democracy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
