Policies Of The Football Association Towards Lower Division And Non League Clubs

EDM number 1651 in 2002-03, proposed by Adrian Sanders on 09/09/2003.

That this House notes with incredulity the Football Association's claim that it represents the best interests of lower division and non-league soccer clubs following their decision to cut FA Cup prize money for early round winners while maintaining the prize levels for Round Three onwards, when First Division and Premiership clubs enter the competition; further notes that the burden of these cuts will only fall on the heads of lower division and non-league soccer clubs, who stand to receive around half the prize money that was available last season; and wishes to draw this sorry state of affairs to the attention of Her Majesty's Government so that those ministers with responsibility for projects involving the Football Association can use their influence to encourage a more equitable distribution of resources within the nation's national game.

This motion has been signed by a total of 39 MPs.
