Turkey V England

EDM number 1673 in 2002-03, proposed by Tony Banks on 10/09/2003.

That this House strongly endorses the pleas made by the FA, Mr Sven-Goran Eriksson and Mr David Beckham for fans not to travel to the Turkey v. England match in Istanbul on 11th October; believes that there would be no reasonable excuse for fans to travel if the match were available live on terrestrial television; and calls upon the relevant ministers to hold urgent discussions with BSkyB and the BBC to see if such an arrangement might be reached in the national interest.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
