Access To Volunteering
EDM number 1837 in 2002-03, proposed by Rudi Vis on 29/10/2003.
That this House congratulates Ms Kate Power, the Volunteer Coordinator of SCOPE, on leading SCOPE's London Volunteer Network which has a vision of equality for all disabled people; recognises that volunteers can gain a lot from their experience, including skills and knowledge which are useful when applying for paid work; notes that over half of all disabled people are currently unemployed; and urges the Government further to develop the notion that a lack of disability subsidy is a barrier to inclusive volunteering.
