Epilepsy Treatments

EDM number 1921 in 2002-03, proposed by John Battle on 13/11/2003.

That this House welcomes national recent initiatives relating to the treatment of epilepsy; but calls on the Government to recognise the need for additional epilepsy-specific measures to enable local implementation of these initiatives; believes that, without such measures, people with epilepsy will remain exposed to a risk of misdiagnosis by non-specialists, possibly as high as 20 to 25 per cent. as highlighted by the Holton Inquiry this autumn; and notes that such people will also be at risk of sudden death in epilepsy and will lack access to many basic choices that lead to a good quality of life.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
