Rugby Airport

EDM number 368 in 2002-03, proposed by Andy King on 12/12/2002.

That this House notes the extension of the air transport consultation to consider Gatwick as an option in the South East; further notes that the consultation has been extended in all regions, including in the Midlands the option to build the largest airport in Europe across greenbelt land between Rugby and Coventry and to close Birmingham International Airport; believes that there is no support for this option in the Midlands and that the continuing uncertainty is blighting the lives of many people in Rugby and other areas that would be affected by the new airport; and urges the Government to make the earliest possible announcement and reject the Midlands new site option and the closure of Birmingham International Airport.

This motion has been signed by a total of 36 MPs.
