Nursing And Personal Care
EDM number 660 in 2002-03, proposed by Alan Meale on 05/02/2003.
That this House expresses its concern that many people are not seeing the direct benefits of money intended to help support their nursing needs because a number of unscrupulous care home owners were increasing their fees to take advantage of additional monies made available to them; sees such actions as a betrayal of the benefits intention which needs to be stopped; agrees with the view of the Right to Care coalition that recently suggested to Health Ministers that in future all payments made for the registered nursing care contribution should go directly to residents of care homes instead of the care homes providers; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government seriously to consider such changes as a just step towards the implementation in full of the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Long Term Care.
