International Childhood Cancer Day

EDM number 713 in 2002-03, proposed by Liam Fox on 11/02/2003.

That this House notes the importance of International Childhood Cancer Day and praises Cancer Research UK for raising awareness of this significant health problem in children; is concerned that an estimated quarter of a million children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer each year but that four out of five are either not diagnosed or are denied the life-saving treatment they need; wholeheartedly supports International Childhood Cancer Day on Saturday 15th February; and hopes that, through this day and the efforts and treatment of Cancer Research UK, world-wide public awareness regarding the urgent need for research into this disease will be raised, so that survival rates will improve.
