Big Food Group/iceland And Guyana

EDM number 912 in 2002-03, proposed by Hywel Williams on 18/03/2003.

That this House welcomes the decision of the Big Food Group/Iceland to cancel the ú13 million debt owed to it by Guyana, a debt that it inherited from the takeover of Booker Plc; congratulates Christian Aid, its supporters and other debt campaigners on their work in achieving this debt cancellation for one of the poorest countries in the world; and calls on other large multi-national companies that are owed money by poor countries to follow the lead of the Big Food Group, to take their social, moral and global responsibilities seriously, to put people before profit and to cancel these debts.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
