Labelling Of Food Containing Nuts
EDM number 1271 in 2003-04, proposed by Keith Vaz on 25/05/2004.
That this House notes that the number of children with allergies in this country is on the increase and that nut allergy is one of the more serious allergies; further notes that food manufacturers often use the labelling, may contain nuts, which is not sufficient information for a nut allergy sufferer; urges food manufacturers to take greater responsibility for the labelling of foods so that vague messages do not dilute the effects of labels on food that genuinely contains nuts; and welcomes the Leicester Mercury campaign to raise awareness on this important issue.
