New Equality And Human Rights Body

EDM number 1306 in 2003-04, proposed by Keith Vaz on 27/05/2004.

That this House welcomes the Government's commitment to equality; congratulates it on the progress that has hitherto been made; is concerned however with the new proposal for a single equality and human rights body and the abolition of the Commission of Racial Equality; considers it important that the race agenda should be preserved; and therefore calls on the Government to enter into a dialogue with the different communities to discuss their views on the best way forward.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
