17 Million Reasons
EDM number 1595 in 2003-04, proposed by Ian Gibson on 07/09/2004.
That this House notes that there are over 17 million people living in the UK with long-term chronic conditions including asthma, diabetes, arthritis and some cancers; further notes the work of the diverse partnership of 20 organisations, including patient groups, managers and professionals, to highlight generic proposals that, taken together, would radically transform the lives of one third of the population who live with long-term conditions; supports the partnership's three proposals to start by ensuring that people have rapid access to diagnosis and needs assessment, give patients proper access to information and advice, and personalise services around each individual with a care plan for everyone, and congratulates the partnership on the launch of their manifesto, 17 Million Reasons, calling on political parties to put people with long-term conditions at the heart of the health agenda.
This motion has been signed by a total of 113 MPs.
