DR HUNG-MAO TIEN, TAIWAN'S REPRESENTATIVE IN THE UK
EDM number 1733 in 2003-04, proposed by Tom Cox on 13/10/2004.
That this House wishes to express its very great appreciation for the association honourable Members have had with Dr Hung-mao Tien, the Taiwanese Government's diplomatic representative to the United Kingdom, who will shortly be returning to Taiwan; notes that, during his years as Taiwan's diplomatic representative to the United Kingdom, Dr Tien has always worked to promote a close ongoing relationship with Members of the United Kingdom Parliament and with representatives of the many organisations with which he has had contact and that this is one of the reasons why he is so highly regarded as a most successful diplomatic representative to the United Kingdom; and further notes that the excellent relationship between the United Kingdom and Taiwan owe much to his committment to this relationship and that Dr Tien has always sought to explain the democratic committment of Taiwan and its people and their wish for a close friendship with the United Kingdom and its citizens.
