Wind Energy

EDM number 272 in 2004-05, proposed by Bob Blizzard on 01/12/2004.

That this House congratulates the Government on the introduction of the Renewables Obligation and the setting of a target to generate 20 per cent. of the nation's electricity from renewable sources by 2020; recognises that wind energy is the most commercially developed renewable source that is available now at manageable cost; believes that, as the windiest country in Europe, Britain should fully utilise the contribution that wind energy can make; welcomes Government support for the development of other renewable energy sources and technologies; urges the Government to continue its programme of development regulation; and condemns the Conservative Party attack on wind energy as opportunist and showing a lack of commitment to tackling global warming.

This motion has been signed by a total of 81 MPs.
