Regulatory Impact Assessments And Environmental Protection Measures

EDM number 559 in 2004-05, proposed by David Kidney on 19/01/2005.

That this House recognises the importance of sound, evidence-based policymaking; notes the importance of conducting regulatory impact assessments (RIAs) of new environmental protection measures that include a full assessment of all the economic benefits of high environmental standards and not just costs; and calls on all Government departments carrying our RIAs of environmental measures properly to assess the economic benefits they generate through the increased international competitiveness of the UK's environmental technology and services industry and increased productivity in UK industry as a whole.

This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs.
