England Cricket Team Victory In South Africa

EDM number 586 in 2004-05, proposed by Parmjit Singh Gill on 25/01/2005.

That this House congratulates the England cricket team on its series win in South Africa; notes that this is England's first series win on South African soil in 40 years; recognises in particular the contributions of Andrew Strauss for scoring over 600 runs in the series, Matthew Hoggard for his bowling in the Fourth Test where he took 12 wickets for 205 runs and the captaincy of Michael Vaughan; praises the United Cricket Board for organising such an excellent test; thanks the South African Team, and the South African public for hosting such an exciting series; and looks forward to similar standards of sportsmanship, professionalism and fair play being reflected in the summer Ashes series.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
