Viability Of Post Offices
EDM number 656 in 2004-05, proposed by Harry Barnes on 03/02/2005.
That this House is concerned that certain banks including HSBC, NatWest, Abbey and Halifax only allow basic bank accounts to be accessed through post offices, unlike Lloyds TSB, Barclays and Alliance and Leicester, who allow a far greater range of services to be accessed through post offices branches; and believes that the inclusion of the missing banks in this wider scheme would significantly improve the viability of all post offices.
