Rural Development Regulations And Animal Welfare

EDM number 717 in 2004-05, proposed by David Drew on 09/02/2005.

That this House notes the European Commission proposal for a Council Regulation on support for rural development by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (COM(2004)490), published in July 2004; further notes that the proposed Regulation continues the provision of an existing Regulation that member states must support measures to improve animal welfare standards; and calls upon the Government in its negotiations in Council to resist amendments which would weaken provisions relating to animal welfare.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
