Identity Theft

EDM number 965 in 2004-05, proposed by Nigel Evans on 21/03/2005.

That this House notes the recent Fellowes poll on identity theft which found that 81 per cent. of the British public are concerned about becoming a victim of identity theft; calls upon the Government to combat identity theft by issuing clear guidelines to individuals and businesses, detailing the most effective ways to destroy information containing personal details; and believes that education is an effective way for the public to learn more about identity theft so people will destroy personal information and in turn will begin to make identity theft more difficult for criminals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
