Access To Education In Iran
EDM number 1098 in 2005-06, proposed by Lembit Opik on 23/11/2005.
That this House notes that members of Iran's largest religious minority, the Bahá'Ãs, remain denied access to education; observes that despite recent changes to the university entrance examination form Iranian Bahá'Ãs have been falsely recorded as having a Muslim identity and that the authorities have declined to correct such errors; believes that there is a clear policy on the part of the Iranian government to deny Bahá'Ãs access to higher education on grounds of their religious beliefs; and urges the UK Government to make representations to the Iranian authorities to end this manifestly unjust policy.
