Abandoned Vehicles

EDM number 125 in 2005-06, proposed by Bill Wiggin on 17/05/2005.

That this House notes that there has been a 38 per cent. increase in the number of abandonded cars between 2000-01 to 2001-02; further notes the serious environmental hazards posed by abandonded vehicles; notes with concern the potential increase in abandonded cars under the provisions of the End of Life Vehicle Directive and that the industry estimates indicate that this increase could be over 340,000 per year; and calls on the Government to take action to ensure that abandoning cars is not the easiest option for car disposal.

This motion has been signed by a total of 98 MPs.
