EDM number 1743 in 2005-06, proposed by Edward Vaizey on 02/03/2006.

That this House congratulates the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) on the launch of this year's Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award; notes that any public building that has been completed and come into use between 1st January 2005 and 31st January 2006 will be eligible; urges all hon. and right hon. Members with such outstanding public buildings in their constituency to nominate them for this award by downloading a form from www.betterpublicbuilding.org.uk before the closing date on 20th April 2006; further notes that outstanding public buildings such as hospitals, schools, libraries and museums help improve the environment for everyone, serve as a focus and source of pride for the whole community, and significantly raise the profile of a town or city; and concludes that the work of CABE in promoting better building and urban design is vital for enhancing the nation's quality of life.
