Merger Of Cambridgeshire Constabulary With Norfolk And Suffolk Constabularies

EDM number 2013 in 2005-06, proposed by Stewart Jackson on 24/04/2006.

That this House supports the decision of Cambridgeshire Police Authority to refuse to agree to the merger of Cambridgeshire Constabulary with Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies; notes that the Home Secretary has comprehensively failed to make a coherent case for merger and to engage with and listen to key partners across Cambridgeshire, especially local authorities; and further notes that the decision to compel local police forces to merge is driven from the Home Office and is based on spurious evidence and will do nothing to address under-funding of Cambridgeshire Constabulary nor the operational priorities of reducing anti-social behaviour, violent crime and drug-related crime in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
