Mongolian Presidential Election

EDM number 219 in 2005-06, proposed by John Grogan on 25/05/2005.

That this House congratulates the Mongolian people on successfully holding on Sunday 22nd May their fourth democratic presidential election since 1992; notes that the new President, Mr Nambaryn Enkhbayar, is no stranger to the United Kingdom, having graduated from the University of Leeds in 1986; recognises that the staunch commitment of the Mongolian people to open, free and fair democratic elections is a model which acts as a beacon to other nations across central Asia; and looks forward to continuing warm relations between the United Kingdom and Mongolia for many years to come.
