EDM number 2304 in 2005-06, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 06/06/2006.
That this House pays tribute to the Royal British Legion with the launch of Poppy Support, the new name for the welfare services provided by the Legion to the ex-Service community; notes that in 2005 the Legion provided direct welfare services to 42,000 people in addition to 18,000 people who benefited indirectly from Legion welfare through the funding it provides to other organisations; recognises the excellent work done in the field of education working closely with schools to inform young people about the role the British Legion plays; congratulates all volunteers for their efforts in helping the British Legion support veterans and their families, organise visits abroad and help to raise funds; and looks forward to the Royal British Legion going from strength to strength in the future playing a vital role for the ex-Service community.
