NEW CARERS' CHAMPION FOR WALES

EDM number 2369 in 2005-06, proposed by Hywel Francis on 14/06/2006.

That this House congratulates the Welsh Assembly Government on the appointment of the first Carers Champion for Wales; welcomes this initiative as the first of its kind in the UK and anywhere in the world; notes that this is a ministerial appointment within Government and will have cross-cutting responsibilities across all departments; and calls on the Government to follow this excellent Welsh example and to appoint a similar champion for England to help secure better respite care, respect and recompense for all carers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
