Institution Of Engineering And Technology

That this House welcomes the formal launch of the Institution of Engineering and Technology formed from the former Institution of Electrical Engineering and Institution of Incorporated Engineers on 31st March; further welcomes the Institution's parliamentary launch on 24th April; congratulates the Institution for its imaginative initiatives encouraging young people's interest in science, especially its world-wide series of Faraday lectures, magazine Flipside, and contribution of over £470,000 in 2006 to engineering scholarships; and commends the Institution for making submissions to over 35 Government consultations in the last year in fields ranging from health effects of power lines and mobile phones to identity cards, education and skills, and energy policy.
