Holiday Play Schemes

EDM number 2400 in 2005-06, proposed by Paul Rowen on 19/06/2006.

That this House applauds the contribution that short-term holiday play schemes make to local communities; notes that many holiday play schemes are run by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis; recognises that some volunteer-led schemes find it difficult to find enough volunteers with Level Three and Level Two qualifications to satisfy National Standards For Under Eights Day Care and Childminding for Out of School Care; regrets that as a result some short-term holiday play schemes are having to deregister with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and therefore provide a lesser service to their community; and calls on the DfES to have greater flexibility on the number and type of childcare qualifications required for volunteer-run short-term summer play schemes.

This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
