Appointment Of The Right Reverend John Sentamu As Archbishop Of York

That this House congratulates the Bishop of Birmingham, the Right Reverend John Sentamu, on his appointment as the new Archbishop of York; welcomes the decision that means the Bishop has become the Church of England's first archbishop from an ethnic minority background; acknowledges the Bishop's commitment to the cases of Stephen Lawrence and Damilola Taylor; and wishes the Bishop every success when he takes up his new role in the autumn.
