Arrest Of Ebdal Karimi By Iranian Regime

EDM number 444 in 2005-06, proposed by Andrew Mackinlay on 28/06/2005.

That this House deplores the arrest on 21st June of Edbal Karimi by agents of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the seizure of his son's computer and satellite receiver; is conscious of the fact that Edbal Karimi's brother Dariush is one of the disappeared of the Iranian regime; is reminded of the earlier imprisonment of Mr Karimi for representing workers' rights at the Shemnako brick factory; is fearful for his life and liberty; calls upon the UK Ambassador in Tehran to make the strongest representations on his behalf; and urges all other international human rights organisations similarly to intervene as a matter of the utmost urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
