MINERS' COMPENSATION AND DOUBLE CHARGING

EDM number 62 in 2005-06, proposed by John Mann on 17/05/2005.

That this House believes 100 per cent. of all industrial injury compensation should be paid to miners and miners' widows; is disgusted at the practice of some solicitors' claims handlers in deducting a success fee or other charges when the Government has already paid them generous legal fees; calls for a full public investigation into double charging; and further calls on the Government to refer this issue to the Serious Fraud Office for criminal investigations.
