Eu/us Trade Dispute

EDM number 640 in 2005-06, proposed by Martyn Jones on 20/07/2005.

That this House expresses concern at the protectionist and anti-competitive measures proposed by US Congressman Hunter's `Buy American' legislation and the damage that they could cause to employment in both the UK and US; calls on the Government to publish a list of Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other government contracts funded by UK taxpayers it has placed or is in the process of concluding with US companies named in the World Trade Organisation dispute over subsidies; and requests that the Government provide an assessment of how these or other MOD contracts might be affected should the US Congress adopt the Hunter proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
