University Of Dundee And The First Unesco Centre In The UK

EDM number 885 in 2005-06, proposed by Jim McGovern on 27/10/2005.

That this House continues to support the millennium development goals, particularly goal 10 which relates to global access to clean and safe water and welcomes any progress that can be made towards them; recognises in particular that the successful management of the world's water resources is vital to long-term development in the Third World and thus congratulates Dundee University on being selected to be the first UNESCO centre in the UK; welcomes the inter-disciplinary approach taken by the University; commends the University for the outstanding reputation it has developed as a centre of excellence on this issue; and calls upon all countries, both developed and developing, and all organisations involved in this field, to continue to put their full support behind the millennium development goals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 34 MPs.
