CORNWALL'S PATRON SAINT

EDM number 1021 in 2006-07, proposed by Daniel Rogerson on 01/03/2007.

That this House notes the celebrations of Cornwall's patron, St Piran, on 5th March each year are growing in scope, support and significance; believes that this is a valuable opportunity for the people of Cornwall to celebrate their unique heritage, language, culture and aspirations; recognises that those whom support patron saints' days in other regions and nations of the United Kingdom are also seeking official acknowledgement; welcomes the fact that Bodmin Town Council has already made the day a staff holiday; and calls on the Government to make St Piran's Day a public holiday in Cornwall.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
