Ofcom Adjudication Report On Channel 4 And Celebrity Big Brother

EDM number 1581 in 2006-07, proposed by Keith Vaz on 24/05/2007.

That this House welcomes the publication of the adjudication by Ofcom on the actions of Channel 4 during the broadcasting of racist abuse during the Celebrity Big Brother show in January 2007; believes that the report is a vindication of the 46,000 people who complained about the programme; calls for an urgent debate in the House to address the substance of the adjudication; notes that there has still not been a full and proper apology to Shilpa Shetty and the general public; further notes that no person employed by Channel 4 is resigning despite Ofcom's unprecedented criticism and sanctions; and believes that this symbolises the failure of Channel 4 to comprehend the magnitude and offence that was caused.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
